The majority of relapse, which occurs after braces are removed, is usually across the lower front teeth. For the most part, it is due to patient’s poor use of the lower retainer. When indicated, we bond a permanent retainer behind the lower four incisor teeth.
Upper and Lower Removable Retainers
We have a variety of colors and designs for our patient’s personal preference. We use the Hawley retainers and the clear overlay retainer. We have our patients wear retainers for the first four to nine months 24 hours a day, and only during nighttime thereafter.
