As a pediatric dentist, I have a unique opportunity to have a positive effect on the self-esteem and confidence of my young patients, all while helping them develop a positive opinion of dentistry. I treat patients and parents with respect, and encourage active participation in achieving oral health goals.
My Education
I grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in science in 1996. Then I attended the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, where I graduated with honors in 2000. Two years later, I completed my residency program in pediatric dentistry at the Virginia Commonwealth/Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry and received my Master of Science. I also serve as an adjunct faculty member at the VCU/MCV School of Dentistry.
In 2002, I partnered with Dr. Mitchell Avent in Newport News, Virginia, where my love for practicing pediatric dentistry evolved.
Professional Affiliations
I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. I am active in many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, both the Virginia and Southeastern Societies of Pediatric Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society.
Outside the Office
I am happily married with four children. My happiest times are spent with my family and pursuing outdoor activities. Apart from the office, I also enjoy working on my mini-farm and riding the tractor!
